Getting there

By air: Chicago’s chief airport for international flights is O’Hare Airport which is 27 kilometres (17 miles) from the city centre. This is one of, if not thee busiest airport in the world. All major international airlines fly there.

Midway Airport, which is 19 kilometres (12 miles) south of the city, is used no frills (discount) airlines and is much smaller.

By train: Union Station on 225 S. Canal at Adams Street is Amtrak’s (America’s main rail company) hub in America. This is where all long distance trains from other American cities arrive.

By bus: Greyhound’s bus station in Chicago can be found at 630 W. Harrison Street at Jefferson and Desplaines Ave.

Getting around

By train: The Chicago Transit Authority are the ones who look after the city’s train network, widely known as the “El”. They are elevated trains, but get their name from the abbreviation of the letter ‘L’, standing for Loop. There are seven different lines and they serve the city centre area, in particular, extremely well.

By bus: Buses are slower and not as comfortable but serve all areas of the city. They may be the only way to get to different parts of the city.
